What is Health Fair?

Health Fair is an annual event hosted by the Paul Hom Asian Clinic and its sister clinics, the Vietnamese Cancer Awareness Research and Education Society (VN CARES) and Hmong Lifting Underserved Barriers (HLUB), at the Medical Education Building at UC Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento.

During Health Fair, we offer Primary Care services to help guide patients toward the care they need, while also welcoming them to explore a wide range of specialty clinics such as cardiopulmonary care, neurology screenings, ophthalmology imaging, bone density screenings, mental health support, women’s health education, diabetes resources, and much more. In 2025, we also partnered with Willow Dental Clinic to provide free dental exams!

What makes Health Fair unique is its focus on care with connection. Every patient is guided through the event by an undergraduate volunteer who speaks their native language, ensuring a culturally sensitive and welcoming experience. These volunteers work alongside professional students and healthcare providers who bring expertise, mentorship, and hands-on care.

This entirely free event is a collaborative effort led by undergraduate students, professional students, volunteers, doctors, and community members, all united in their mission to serve Sacramento’s underserved populations. Health Fair not only delivers essential medical services but also celebrates the region’s rich cultural diversity, offering a welcoming space where patients feel valued and supported. In 2025, more than 90 patients attended, enjoying free healthcare, a complimentary lunch, live entertainment, raffles, and tote bags filled with wellness resources.

We’ll be announcing our Health Fair 2026 services soon!

In 2025, we were able to see 91 patients for FREE in one day!

We hope to build upon past years and continue to provide high-quality healthcare!

Patient Assistance Program (PAP): In partnership with the UCSF School of Pharmacy, PAP offers free bone density screenings. This quick, five-minute screening is designed to monitor bone density and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining bone health. While not diagnostic, the screening serves as a valuable risk assessment tool to help identify individuals who may benefit from further testing and follow-up with their primary care provider. Additionally, pharmacists on-site are available to answer questions about medications and provide personalized consultations.

Psychiatry: Free mental health screenings using the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 to help identify symptoms of depression and anxiety. We also have a psychiatrist available to speak with individuals who are interested in discussing their mental health. In addition, we offer resources and referrals for patients with or without insurance who are interested in meeting with a therapist.

Women's Health: Clinical Breast Exams, OBGYN consults, and free women’s health education.
